Actor Gemma Arterton takes the lead as Barbara Parker in a Sky original production based on Nick Hornby’s novel Funny Woman. The series is written by and stars Morwenna Banks alongside Rupert Everett.
Set in 1960s London, Funny Woman tells the story of Barbara’s journey from Blackpool beauty queen to comedy superstar and nation’s sweetheart. You can take a peek at the first look trailer here!
In the series, we’ll see Barbara’s beginnings working in a factory in Blackpool and how she makes it to the male-dominated world of the 1960s sitcom where she redefines the prevailing attitude to funny women and in the process finds her voice.
