Comedian and actor Lolly Adefope has scored a role in a new American TV series based on the essay anthology compiled by Scarlett Curtis, Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (and Other Lies).
Adefope will adapt the story she wrote for the original book, published in 2018, called The Question, about a quiz show where the contestant is asked the million-dollar question: “Which word best describes you, a) Black or b) Woman?’ The episode, which Adefope will also executive produce, will be titled Girls Can’t Shoot (& Other Lies).
Other episodes in the series will star Beanie Feldstein and Jameela Jamil, Saorise Ronan will executive produce the pilot episode, while Scarlett Curtis will executive produce the series.
Curtis said: “It has been my lifelong dream to show that women’s stories can be both entertaining and empowering and I could not have found a more incredible group of women to bring their extraordinary visions to life.”
Adefope has previously starred on American screens in a series inspired by writer Lindy West’s book, Shrill.
