Funny Women

Introducing  writer, improviser and comedy performer Ann Hirst who is August’s Patron of the Month! Ann is on the Humorous Tier and is modeling her free Funny Women t-shirt.

Ann supports Funny Women because “A few years ago, I bought a ticket for one of the final heats of the Funny Women Awards at a theatre in east London. I’d never heard of Funny Women before this and was so totally blown away and inspired by the talent and bravery of all these amazing women getting up on stage and doing their thing that, despite having never done it before, I decided to try stand-up for the first time.  A few months later I performed at an open mic night for new acts and was put through to the next stage. Since then, I’ve done more stand-up gigs, I’ve written and performed my own one-woman show at the Norwich Fringe and have written and performed two sketch series’ that were broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk. I’d like to thank Funny Women for everything they do – from their workshops and courses to the awards and the support they provide for women like me, who just want the opportunity to put their work out there and make a name for themselves in what can be a tricky (and fairly male-dominated) industry.”
