Funny Women isn’t known for it’s STEM skills, but our company is known for it’s great sense of humour and huge network of brilliant, hilarious women and the team think it’s time we made sure that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. So in 2017 we’re going to start trying to bring ourselves more into the STEM world.
Funny Women is about inclusivity, we love the fact that our gigs are full of diverse, interesting and original women – all with different stories to tell and different jokes to deliver. We want to make sure that we’re including all those Funny Women in the areas that a lot of people forget about, we want to help women Stand Up To Stand Out in STEM. This will be through catered workshops and gigs that focus on those women within the STEM community to help them find their voice through comedy.
So if you’re someone that would be interested in this, if you are one of those mythical creatures that feels at home in a lab or kicks back with a bit of geometry (at this point I think it’s clear that i’m just typing aimlessly) then this new comedy workshop programme could be for you. It’s an incredible platform to talk about subjects that are uncomfortable or taboo, it’s also a great way to gain new social skills and we think that all women should have access to that. We want all women to be able to ‘find their funny’ whatever that may be.
