If you ever wondered what the creators of all those hectic kid’s live TV shows are up to we suspect we have found out… They have moved into adult/family TV and have created Harry Hill’s Alien Fun Capsule. In this new ITV show Harry oversees two teams who have to save the planet from alien invasion. Harry calls it “an idea that’s thinner than Kim Kardashian’s nightie.”

The teams have to seek out clips and anything fun or funny enough for Harry to put in the capsule which, in the event of alien invasion, ought to show what good fun humans are and encourage aliens to spare us. Harry gets to decide what goes in to the capsule and the team who wins get bragging rights (and the pride that comes with hypothetically saving the world).

Along the way there will be sketches, studio items and special guests. And the occasional appearance of an alien.

Guests slated to save the world include Ross Noble, Gloria Hunniford, David O’Doherty, 2008 Funny Women Awards finalist and 216 mentor Sara Pascoe, Josh Widdicombe, Joe Lycett, Ainsley Harriott, Lorraine Kelly, Kathy Burke, Des O’Connor, Nish Kumar and Nina Wadia.

Harry Hill’s Alien Fun Capsule begins tonight on ITV at 8.30pm
