What do Jay Z and Miranda Hart have in common? Well, apart from both being big Beyonce fans, they both love the musical Annie. In fact now they have even more in common because soon they will both have lived out their Annie dreams. For Jay Z it was his single Hard Knock Life, then producing a new version of Annie and for Miranda? Well Miranda is in negotiations to play Miss Hannigan in a West End production, the role originally played by Carol Burnett in the film. And who wouldn’t want to be Miss Hannigan? She had a bath tub of gin!

Miranda has long been a fan of the musical, including the classic Annie song Easy Street in her Desert Island Discs selection as well as Tomorrow featuring on an episode of Miranda.

If Miranda takes the role she will be replacing Craig Revel Horwood, who played Miss Hannigan in the 2015-2016 UK tour of Annie. This production will be staged at the Piccadilly Theatre and would feature Miranda for only part of the run due to previous commitments. Presumably Miranda’s and not the production’s.
