Remember when MTV was really good? Like really good and had funny original shows on between music videos? Glory days. Anyway it looks like 4Music is ready to take the baton by commissioning its first comedy show. Pop Sludge will pilot on 28th December, which is great not only because it gives you something to do between that weird ‘not-Christmas-now-not-New-Year-yet’ gap but because it features 2014 Funny Women Awards finalist Samantha Baines!

Samantha will be joined by other comedy talents such as Patrick Turpin, Steve Bugeja, Harrie Hayes and Jason Forbes to send up celebrity culture with Pitbull, YouTubers, socialites and Instagrammers already in their sights. Samantha told us: “I got to throw cheese, wear a t-shirt with Harrie Hayes and Patrick Turpin’s faces on and I even sport a lip mole at one point – what more could you hope for in a role? Pop Sludge was such a pleasure to be part of and we honestly had the best time on set. Do social media it if you like it because then maybe we can do more!”

The show was created by former BBC radio comedy staff writer James Bugg and includes work from writers Jack Bernhardt, James Boughen, Joe Hampson  and Phoebe Walsh.

You can catch Pop Sludge at 10pm on 28th December on 4Music.
