Sandi Toksvig has settled into Stephen Fry’s former role as QI’s host but that doesn’t mean she’s reached the peak of her ambitions. Speaking at the Women in Film and Television Awards at the Hilton Park Lane hotel Sandi told the Express Day & Night magazine that she would like to host her own talk show.

Sandi explained: “I’d like to do a chat show and there aren’t women doing them. I don’t know why, it’s not that difficult – they tell you who’s coming on beforehand so you have an idea what to ask them. It’s the one type of show I haven’t done.

“There are some amazing women around who should have done them such as Joan Bakewell. Gloria Hunniford did a daytime one but I mean an evening prime-time one.

“I’d love to see a bit of the Michael Parkinson thing come back where you get to talk to somebody at length or even do an in-depth interview for an hour and a half. Not that thing where it’s eight minutes of somebody plugging a movie. I enjoy that and think Graham Norton is exemplary but I’d like to see some more in-depth stuff.”

We think Sandi would be a fabulous talk show host.
