How many men does it take to open a beer?
None. It should be opened by the time she brings it in.

Have you heard the one about the sandwich? Or the one about cooking in the dark?

Sexist jokes – they’re everywhere. Pinballing around the office, at the pub and on the street usually followed by forced laughter as everyone tries to drown out the sound of day to day misogyny in 2016. Well Funny Women are reclaiming the sexist joke or rather, we’re answering back and believe us when we say it won’t be the punchline you’re expecting.

Following on from our involvement and video from last year, Funny Women are once again working with BBC World as part of their 100 Women 2016 project!

This season includes a day long ‘edit-a-thon’ of a prominent website to put the spotlight and focus on all the deserving and ‘forgotten’ women out there, as well as other thought provoking live events and opinion pieces on the BBC website. 100 Women is a fantastic platform for incredible women everywhere to be celebrated and encouraged as well as a space for discussion, debate and change! Funny Women will be taking part in the best way we know how – through comedy!

Watch out for some of our brilliant comedians as they share sexist jokes they’ve heard, been the butt of or simply cannot stand and give their own retorts back. We’ll be filming some of our Funny Women from all around the world so watch this space!
