In case you have been worrying about what BBCfaithfuls Mel and Sue will be doing now the Bake Off tent is officially closed in order to be rolled up and delivered to Channel 4 with Paul Hollywood inside, then worry not. The comedy pair has found a new home for their puns and innuendo, hosting Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief.

If that show title sounds familiar it’s because it is, however the popular show formerly known as Let’s Dance For Comic Relief, has had a singing contest added. The BBC promises that guests will be  “donning more fantastic outfits and learning more iconic dance routines for Comic Relief“, but with a new challenge, “the willing participants will be taking the mic as well as busting out some moves, as they have to sing as well as perfect the iconic dance routines from some of pop’s biggest hits”.

New hosts Mel and Sue will “have access all areas to the performing celebrities’ routines; breath-taking – in more ways than one – vocals; and they will even hit the streets of Britain to enlist the great British public in some of the biggest dance-offs ever”.

Sue said: “I’m thrilled to be co-presenting Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief, not least because it will finally show the world why I was voted West Penwith’s Krumping Champion (over 40s category).”

While Mel added: “Since leaving the Royal Ballet twelve years ago, Mel is really looking forward to getting back on her pointes and showing the brave Comic Relief celebrity dancers how to split leap and ball change. She’s delighted to be taking time out from her busy schedule at the Royal Opera House (she was recently called “a complete and utter Tosca” in the starring role of the eponymous opera) to take part in co-hosting duties for Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief.”

The BBC’s Kate Phillips said: “Bringing Mel and Sue to BBC One on a Saturday night is hugely exciting. Their warmth, wit, charm and chemistry married with their genuine love of entertainment are all a perfect fit for Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief. They will challenge contestants to stretch their hamstrings, vocal chords and of course don red noses in the most memorable way possible.”

Fingers crossed Mary Berry has signed on as one of the celebrity guests – Mary we know you have it in you!

Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief will be on BBC One and the first of 2017 Red Nose Day celebrations, which will take place on Friday 24th March.
