Universal Studios Japan. A place where magic really does happen, especially in the ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ zone:
As if I could’ve visited and not done the ‘Potter’ bit, come on.
For me, the magical effects of USJ miraculously turned my camera into a potato.
You may be familiar with the ‘potato quality’ meme already. I didn’t believe a camera could transform into a spud, but clearly I was mistaken.
It’s no Disney (and they go to great pains to make sure you know that), but USJ had already conjured up some fun earlier in the day. The listed waiting times for rides were being mysteriously sliced in half. I assume getting in the ‘Single Rider’ queue and bypassing all the families had nothing to do with it.
We’d also been taken back to the past on the Back To The Future ride. It’s just closed, and hadn’t been updated since opening – so the ‘Future’ we ended up in was June 2015. Oh, how nobody laughed.
Some higher power was at work, along with all the smiling ride operators.
When darkness fell, the spell began to intensify. (My camera has a crap ‘night mode’ setting.) I give you: the bizarre and fantastical photos taken by a potato.
Total proof of this tuber-ular transformation? This site’s got a file size limit for uploads. Usually only a couple of my photos make it before I need to whip out Photoshop. I haven’t had to resize a single image this time. Magic!
