ANYONE FOR TENNIS?

Funny Women

Pauline Eyre, a stand-up comedian with a love of tennis, turned heads at last year’s Ed Fringe with her passionate defence of the humble line judge. Now she’s back: funnier, feistier and with more tennis-based opinions than Jack Draper’s had injuries.

A Wimbledon line judge for 20 years, Pauline spills the Pimms on tennis gossip from the fragrant royal box to the musty locker room, and why line judges are OUT! Smashing stories, ace anecdotes and a 40-love letter to the game.

And there’s nobody to say ‘quiet please’. She cannot be serious… can she?

Her show, Anyone for Tennis? is a comedy memoir that played to rave reviews and sold-out audiences at last summer’s Edinburgh Fringe. Now she’s on a 120-date tour across the UK, from the Highlands to Cornwall.

Last summer saw electronic line-calling at Wimbledon replacing the iconic line judges, with their eccentric uniforms and strange poses, with AI voices and a whole heap of new controversy. But for Pauline, it meant an opportunity to dish the dirt on a career’s worth of juicy gossip and salacious stories.

And with an eclectic career off the court, a former BBC Continuity Announcer, familiar voice of British advertising and even a (very) short stint as a Page 3 model (it was a sunglasses ad, honest!), she is the most nearly famous person you’ve never met.

Anyone For Tennis? was nominated for Best Show at the 2025 Edinburgh Ish Awards and received exclusively 4 & 5 star reviews.

When she’s not performing, Pauline is dedicated to supporting the comedy community. As a mentor for Funny Women’s Glitter Project, she helps guide female and non-binary comedians through the whirlwind of the Fringe, offering the kind of practical advice, encouragement, and support that helps fresh talent thrive.

Ready for an ace night out? Catch Pauline Eyre serving up big laughs with Anyone For Tennis? at Hoot 2 at Hoots @ The Apex, Grassmarket from 7th–30th August (excl. 17th & 24th). Click here for tickets and event details!
