It’s been a winning year for Michaela Coel who has won her second BAFTA, at the TV BAFTAs, for best female performance in a comedy for her E4 show Chewing Gum, which she wrote and starred in.
Michaela took the opportunity to “pay my respects to Victoria Wood, with [this award] in my hand.” before adding the heartfelt message to “anyone who looks a bit like me, or feels like they don’t fit in. You are beautiful, embrace it, you are intelligent, embrace it, you are powerful, embrace it.”
The writer and actor stole the show not just with her wise words and winning performance but for her fashion sense, shining out amongst the designer names in a gorgeous dress made by her mum!
