Anyone who’s read Lenny Letter would be forgiven for thinking that the way forward in female comedy is to start a website. It’s worked amazingly well for Lena Dunham – Lenny Letter currently has around half a million subscribers.

Elizabeth Banks, who you may remember from 30 Rock and Modern Family, has launched her own site, Whohaha. It’s here for you, men. Yes, men. No longer do you need to suffer through all-male comedy line-ups and lead roles in movies. The women are here to take over and give you a break. Go on, you’ve earned it. Put your feet up and we’ll take care of the rest.

The boring journalism websites have called it a ‘video content platform’. To me, it’s like someone took YouTube, shook out all the gameplay vids and teeny vloggers, and gave it a nice coating of snark.

And where does the name Whohaha come from? Erm… your hoo-ha, it would seem. Let’s gloss over that. Not… that… that’d be painful.

Videos are the order of the day on Whohaha, with the odd personality quiz on the side. Apparently I’m just like Hillary Clinton. For some reason that feels really good to know. I’ve also discovered which delicatessen cheese I am – Swiss!

I love the top navigation bar, and it changes depending on which page you’re viewing. There’s a tag called ‘I’m Drunk’? Why would I not click on that? You should also check out ‘Girl No’, ‘OMG YAAAS’ and ‘Know Yourself’ while you’re at it. The tags can be refreshed independently to the rest of the page, as well.

Video clips are central to the site, but there’s so much more to the way it works.. Each video is tagged with links to what features in it. The writer tags link to their profiles, products link to online shops, and so on. For example, Nicole Byer’s Storytime gives us a handy link to Reyka Vodka at Target.

There’s a mix of topical features in with the ‘things that are just plain fun’ category. Akilah Hughes rightly talks about the role Leslie Jones plays in the upcoming Ghostbusters remake. If you’re in the mood for something less serious, try ‘My Uterus Can Be Such A Bitch‘.

All of our advice and guidance needs are fulfilled by the ‘Ask A Badass‘ video series. Whohaha even has an RIQ section – that’s Really Important Questions, which have really important answers.

Sure, you probably need headphones to get the most out of Whohaha. Stick those earbuds in and start trawling the tags. As you’d expect, Whohaha is also all over Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
