2008 Funny Women Awards finalist Sara Pascoe has never shied away from gender politics, it’s one of the many things we love about her. Once Sara had put together her most recent live show, she realised that she had even more to say on the subjects of female sexuality, psychology and how the media portray women. So she wrote her book Animal: An Autobiography of the Female Body.
This is Sara’s first book and in it she combines autobiography and evolutionary history about the female body in an informative and entertaining way. Sara asks why we have boobs and how come they are so fetishised and tells us about the 13 year old chimney sweep’s daughter who was kidnapped and how it contributed to the current age of consent. She charts the discovery and apparent neglect of the clitoris – apart from when women had them removed in America and Britain to cure them of masturbation and hysteria.
Animal: An Autobiography of the Female Body will be available for pre-order here and will be published on 21st April 2016. We can’t wait!
