Women! Unite and take the centre stage as your own heroine with Sphinx Theatre Company. The Heroines Festival is a two day festival celebrating women on stage from Friday 27th March to Saturday 28th March.
Only around a third of mainstage theatre roles in the UK feature women. This festival is all about championing leading women in theatre and working to change things for the next generation with two days of workshops, seminars, live performances and new plays from some of the country's leading names and most exciting new talents.
Friday is workshop day at The Actors Centre where you can take part in workshops on demystifying disability with the fantastic Graeae Theatre, improvising and script development and work on female monologues with 2010 Funny Women Variety Award winner and Game of Thrones star Gemma Whelan. There will also be panels on gender and women in theatre and performance.
On Saturday it's performance day at the National Theatre. The day will be, naturally, packed full of fantastic performances showcasing the best in female theatre as well as the Sphinx Writers Group which will be focusing on future voices.
Come along and celebrate all the great women in theatre and performance!
