Have you any plans this Sunday 26th January? Why not cancel your post Sunday roast doze in front of the telly and join us at the Orange Tree theatre in Richmond for a night of comedy to raise money for the Victoria Foundation, a medical charity.
It is a bumper night we have planned for our fifth comedy charity show. Funny Women Awards winner 2006 Suzy Bennett will be playing host to improvisation group the Funny Women Players who can create comedy from any detail the audience gives them. We will also be joined by Funny Women Awards Finalist 2009 Elizabeth Mee, Funny Women Awards Runner-up 2013 Katie Lane, Funny Women Awards Finalist 2013 Sindhu V and Funny Women Awards Best Show Finalist 2013 Vicky Arlidge. Double act and winners of our Variety Award 2013 Revan & Fennell are also helping us to raise money for charity, along with performer and voice-over artist Vicky Peirson and radio presenter for BBC Radio Lincoln Judy Theobald.
Lorna Votier, Development Director, The Victoria Foundation says: "We are delighted to be the beneficiary charity of the fifth Funny Women Comedy Charity Show at the marvellous Orange Tree Theatre. This much loved annual event raises funds to support those in need in our community through ticket sales and a raffle. The money raised from this wonderful show will go towards The Victoria Foundation Special Wheels Appeal to fund a mini-bus which will provide accessible transport for the elderly and disabled helping to ensure they are not isolated at home.
"This annual event is a hugely popular one with many of the audience attending each year. The charity is extremely grateful to the Orange Tree Theatre for providing the venue, to the Funny Women team and the fabulous acts for putting on such a fabulous show, and to our wonderful ambassador Linda Duberley for her support on the night."
Ben Clare of The Orange Tree Theatre adds: "The Orange Tree Theatre has very much enjoyed our ongoing relationship with Funny Women, giving a platform to both established and new female comedians, and we always enjoy welcoming this annual laughter-filled event with the opportunity to see live comedy in our intimate venue. We are also pleased to be giving Funny Women the space to fundraise for The Victoria Foundation, an important Richmond-based charity. This special event forms part of our programme, which currently includes a sell-out adaptation of George Eliot’s 'Middlemarch', and is followed by two new biting suburban comedies 'It Just Stopped' and 'Invincible'."
