As one of British comedy’s most-loved funny females, we can’t wait to see Helen Lederer back on the London stage at the St James’s Theatre. Back in May, her new show Why The Fuss? went down a treat, and we're thrilled to see it getting a second run. This hilarious outing sees Helen debate the meaning of life – with a little help from BBC Radio 4’s Mark Lawson, and of course, her audience.
What is happiness? Is there a point? What’s better, laughter or sex? And does anyone use side plates anymore? In an ideal world, fountains of knowledge such as Mary Beard, Jeremy Clarkson, Gok Wan and Kevin McCloud will join Helen onstage to find out. And if not, she promises to offer up somebody else famous.
On 7th November, expect a stellar lineup of female special guests that includes talented singer, dancer, actress and one fifth of Girls Aloud, Kimberley Walsh, award-winning journalist Suzanne Moore and very special feminist writer known for her sharp political commentary Yasmin Alibhai-Brown. Amazing!
Helen Lederer’s experiences as an actress, writer and comic have been as varied as they have memorable. Best known for her role as Catriona alongside Jennifer Saunders and co in Absolutely Fabulous, she has also appeared on ITV’s Saturday Night Live with solo material and in sketches with Harry Enfield, as well as racking up a number of TV appearances in everything from One Foot in the Grave, Casualty, Bottom, Love Soup, to Miss Marple and beyond.
On BBC Radio 4, she is a regular panellist on shows including The News Quiz, Just a Minute, Quote Unquote, Open Book, A Good Read, Woman’s Hour as well as writing and starring in two comedies, All Change and Life with Lederer. She also writes for The Independent, The Mail on Sunday, the Daily Telegraph and Women & Home, as well as currently being the agony aunt for Women’s Weekly.
