Although Funny Women are big supporters of female comedy, the range of different talents out there has proved to us that, regardless of your discipline, everyone in an arts-based industry can benefit from support and the opportunity to hone their skills. We’re excited to hear that So & So Arts Club, who support creatives from every kind of arts background, are staging their very first week-long festival in the coming weeks.
So & So Arts Club is a growing creative network of industry professionals. Their aim is to pool the skills and resources of actors, writers, directors, producers, designers, musicans and artists, providing support and creating network and collaboration opportunities. Kick up the Arts is their first week-long festival, after a long-running programme of workshops, masterclasses and events.
Kick up the Arts is a week-long ‘boot camp’ festival run by So & So Arts Club. Taking place in Covent Garden’s Tristan Bates Theatre, it will provide a week of masterclasses, showcases and networking opportunities. Every day will focus on a different aspect of the arts – which will slowly interlink as the week progresses – and the entire week’s programme will provide different creative individuals with a chance to work together through a range of activities.
Alongside a fantastic sequence of events, So & So will be providing a showcase of Dwina Gibb’s new play 'The Last Confession' on each night of the festival. This was the very first play of So & So’s recent rehearsed readings, and as a brilliantly funny farce, should provide the perfect accompaniment to the week.
Kick up the Arts will be taking place from 22nd – 27th July at the Tristan Bates Theatre, London.
