This weekend is definitely one to look forward to – alongside the customary bank holiday, Sunday 26th May sees the debut of the fantastic As One In The Park festival. Held at Hackney’s Victoria Park, it’s the first large-scale LGBT music festival to be held in the capital for over a decade, and is presented by legendary clubbing promotions company Orange Nation. With a main stage lineup that includes Rita Ora, Conor Maynard and Katy B, it’s bound to be a musical highlight of the summer – but we’re even more excited by the inspired programme for the Women’s Comedy Stage!
The stage is curated by improv geniuses Short and Girlie, who will be creating sketches and songs based solely on audience suggestions. Joining them are the surreal but brilliant Madge Hooks, the musical comedy musings of Hannah Brackenbury and the wonderful Jen Brister, alongside our favourite Canadian comic Mae Martin (recently seen at our Tits and Giggles gig for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel) and Funny Women Awards 2011 winner Lara A King.
With musical comedy, sketch, improv and standup, the Women’s Comedy Stage has something for everyone – and with music, DJ sets and events across the rest of the festival, this is a bank holiday day out not to miss!
As One In The Park will be taking place on Sunday 26th May at Victoria Park, London.
