Every year, Funny Women asks you to nominate a Real Funny Woman whose innately upbeat attitude to life never fails to make you smile.
This year, Kris Hallenga was nominated for turning her harrowing experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer into a full-time mission to encourage her friends, and her generation, to get to know their boobs.
At 23, Kris was told that not only did she have breast cancer, but that it had spread to her spine. Kris was, and three years later, still is is, at stage four, the most advanced type of cancer. There is no stage five.
However, Kris turned her shock and anger into pure kick-ass by launching the breast cancer awareness charity Coppafeel! which encourages young men and women to check their boobs regularly and to act quickly if they notice anything unusual. Coppafeel! treats this serious issue with unfailing and engaging good humour thanks to Kris, and it is this attitude which lead to Funny Women honouring Kris with the Real Funny Women Award.
