Recognition of Funny Women's local roots are featured in the March issue of The Green Magazine, published by Archant and distributed in Richmond and Chiswick, which explored 10 years of Funny Women and it development.
"I never thought I'd find myself on a front cover with Jamie Oliver," laughs Lynne Parker, founder of Funny Women. "The Chiswick edition of The Green (shown right) has an article about Jamie so my byline is on his chest! I have a bit of a 'mum crush' on him, so am particularly honoured!"
Funny Women operates from offices in leafy Richmond, Surrey under the auspices of local charitable trust, The Victoria Foundation.
"We spent the first year here practically on our own," says Lynne. "Then we started to have company when the office upstairs received a tenant, and the charity staffed up. It's a lovely place to work and our favourite 'annex' is the wonderful Alberts Deli run by Kathy Sue and her team, just over the road! Best coffee, fab food, and a hug when the going gets tough!"
Funny Women is now very much established as a Richmond based business with regular shows at the Orange Tree Theatre and working with The Victoria Foundation on various fund raising projects and the revival of the Victorian Evening in the town centre last December.
