90 years after women first got the vote, they are still in effect excluded from politics. Men outnumber women 4 to 1 in Parliament and progress is painfully slow: since 1997 the number of women in Parliament has increased by just four percent.
The views and experiences of one half of the country are not being heard.
Counting Women In is a groundbreaking new campaign launched to challenge this sluggish pace of change. The Fawcett Society, the Hansard Society, the Electoral Reform Society, the Centre for Women and Democrazy and Unlock Democracy have come together to change the culture so that is works for, not against women and fight to ensure women have a presence and voice in politics.
