Lara A King wrote songs. She sang them beautifully. In between the songs she told funny stories. And a few jokes. Then she wrote some funny songs. And some songs without tunes, which were poems.
Now she combines sharp humour, uplifting melodies, lyrical wordsmithery and very clever silliness to hilariously observe the baffling absurdities of life. She sings like an angel and will make you laugh until wee comes out.
Having toured the UK extensively with Rhona Cameron, Sue Perkins and top cabaret divas Fascinating Aida (check the bodhran player on youtube sensation ‘Cheap Flights’); Lara’s comedy debut received rave reviews at last year's Brighton and Edinburgh Festivals. As well as making it through to the Funny Women Awards final, she has enjoyed success as a finalist in The Amused Moose Laughter Awards and ‘L Talent’ and is currently delighting lovers of sophisticated comedy and beautifully crafted song writing wherever she goes!
It’s like Ellen DeGeneres meets k.d lang and they somehow both created a love child with John Hegley. Even though they’re lesbians. Not John Hegley of course. He’s a man.
