Wednesday was a very exciting day. Had large box delivered in the morning…28 days of food! And for a change it wasn't from the local pizza place! In a couple days time I will be embarking on The JanePlan www.janeplan.com which is the brainchild of Jane Michell who is a very nice (and reassuringly slim!) lady. I met up with Jane last week for a consultation and tried to be honest about my eating habits in order for her to create a realistic plan for me. I found her warm and non-judgmental…she even offered me something to eat in the coffee shop…!
I've tried most of the 'fad' diets out there and had minor success and some disasters and as a classic 'yo -yo dieter' I spend far too much time and energy thinking about food. One diet that I attempted was just powders and after 3 days of torture I vowed never to put myself through that again. The only way was to change the way I feel about food and treat my body better – eating the right things instead of fat and calorie-laden junk that makes me feel constantly sluggish! I'm not getting any younger, it's time to get it sorted!
I was very pleased to discover that on the Jane Plan you eat real, homemade food. Delivery day was like my birthday as I looked through my goodies. On a typical day I can have luxury muesli and yoghurt, mediterranean tuna lunch, a couple of choclate chip cookies, thai chicken curry and lots of veg and fruit. Hardly like a diet at all! All of the food that was given to me was varied and looked delicious – Lasagne, chilli con carne, beef stew, lamb hotpot, tikka masala….no processed gunk! I can still drink tea and coffee too.
There is also an introductory handbook with a diary section of helpful hints and tips from Jane. I feel a sense of relief that my 'obsession' with food is being put on the back burner for a while as if someone has taken me under their wing to set me on the right path.I can hardly wait to get started! Tuesday is the day. (my diets normally start on a Monday!) With Jane as my mentor and always on the end of a phone I'm feeling positive about this change. So watch this space!
One of my main motivations to lose weight is that I am representing Funny Women at various Race For Life events. After putting on about two stone in a year I would like to have more energy and take part in as many of the events as I can. Race for Life isn't just for the superfit and that is part of the appeal, but for me it is a personal goal to have more energy and feel better about myself. Oh and there's the tutu that I wore last year…..It still fits, but only if I don't breathe!
