It’s February, January is firmly behind us, the sun now sets at the new and improved time of 5pm, and, rectangular shaped goods at the supermarket are now heart shaped, or pink, for those who celebrate February 14th. Most importantly though, of course, there is some fantastic comedy to see, from comedians of global fame touring the UK, to new material work in progress shows, to absurd clown acts covered in slime. Intrigued? Read on to discover the best comedy shows London has to offer this month

2. Rosa Garland: Primal Bog

Cult hit from last year’s Fringe, absurdist clown comic Rosa Garland brings her acclaimed and spectacularly slimey show to Soho Theatre this month. Questioning the formal boundaries of expression, sexuality and desire, Garland’s show is shocking, courageous and, really, must be seen to be believed.

3. Aisling Bea: Older than Jesus

BAFTA winning Irish comic Aisling Bea, creator of sit-com This Way Up, and seen on Taskmaster, Live at the Apollo and QI, brings her latest tour show to Soho Theatre Walthamstow for two nights this month. You can expect Bea’s confident comic voice covering topics of home, immigration, and lovers and enemies.

4. Kate Berlant: Live!

Emmy nominated actor and writer Kate Berlant returns to Soho Theatre this month with her newest show, following her previous show, Kate (directed by Bo Burnham), which ran for a month long at Soho Theatre some moons ago, finishing it’s fourth off-broadway run. Berlant serves up brilliant characters, complex clowning, deep irony and nothing less than Broadway levels of theatrics. Not to be missed.

6. Sophie Duker: Sausage – Work In Progress

Series thirteen Taskmaster champ, Funny Women Award finalist and Live at the Apollo alum Sophie Duker brings a work in progress of her new show Sausage to The Bill Murray this month. For some fresh content from a seasoned stand-up, Duker is a safe bet.
