We spend a lot of time working so we believe that it should be FUN. We are therefore extremely proud that our Comedy in the Community programme has been awarded funding by Medway Council and the UK Government for the third year running.
With even more emphasis on improving mental health, wellbeing and creativity in the workplace, we have developed two more fantastic events collaborating with some of the best facilitators, performers and speakers in Kent.
Once again, we arerecognising the contribution that women make in the running of charities, local authority services, arts and voluntary organisations and look forward to celebrating their achievements with the support of male allies at our HOW TO HAVE FUN AT WORK event on Tuesday 24th February and at Stand Up to Stand Out on Tuesday 10th March for International Women’s Day.
Following the successful 2023 pilot of our Funny Women Comedy in the Community programme in partnership with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Medway Champions, we went on to launch our programme formally into the Medway community three years ago.
Both of our 2026 events are designed to encourage future leadership in the voluntary and business sectors across Medway by building confidence, improving communication skills and engendering leadership. We encourage the support of all genders, especially our male allies, with the objective of creating more diverse role models within our local communities.
Our Comedy in the Community programme is a blend of Funny Women’s established, tried and tested national training and coaching programmes with a strong regional bias. We run regular Stand Up to Stand Out workshops throughout the year and create bespoke How to have Fun At Work events for a mix of organisations in business, finance, media and the creative industries. We bring a range of people together through the power of humour.
As an organisation we are best known for developing and supporting female and non-binary creative talent both within the entertainment and live events sector. We created the Funny Women Awards in 2003 aimed at new performers, writers and creators as featured in the 2023 BBC Radio 4 documentary narrated by Kerry Godliman, 20 Years of Funny Women.
We are now part of a cohort of creative organisations delivering Comedy On Prescription and backed by a movement for social prescribing aimed at keeping people happy and healthy in the workplace and their personal lives.
We run comedy skills workshops to support people to grow in confidence for volunteering, community and workplace leadership. Our ‘work play perform’ ethos is built into training, coaching and corporate event services provided by our ‘big sister’ brand, HERlarious

We are excited to run this initiative in partnership with local groups and organisations and wonderful venues in Medway. We are returning to the incredible preloved superstore, The Hangar, where we will celebrate International Women’s Day with workshops, comedy and a unique shopping experience; and hosting our popular tribute to workplace fun in Oliver’s on Rochester’s iconic Dickensian High Street. Our objective is to make our methodology available to a much wider community whilst supporting a broader diversity agenda within arts and culture nationally.
Please check out our programme here in Medway below. All of the events are free to attend, and we are asking for voluntary donations to support the amazing work of The Wisdom Hospice at the point of booking. We look forward to meeting you in person!
