Funny Women

How did you get into stand-up?

My ex boyfriend blocked me on WhatsApp & I had a nervous breakdown. My friend was running a comedy night & I asked to jump on not really knowing how it worked & ended up accidentally middling a pro bill. That was that.

What is it like being a finalist in the 2025 Funny Women Awards?

Honestly ridiculous & overwhelming. I knew there were incredible female comics around but doing the heats and semis I got to meet some of the absolute best. The fact I managed to get to the final is such an honour, & I’m proud to be representing the north west.

Why is Funny Women important to you?

For starters, it just helps give women the platform to show what we can do. For me, the chance to perform with other women & meet & chat is something I don’t take for granted. Normally there is one woman on the bill due to there not being as many of us, so the fact I have gotten to meet so many more funny women is a prize in itself.

Tell us about your comedy style.

Observational, self deprecating & very true to my background.

What’s next for you?

Hopefully look at working on my first stand up show. I’ve got the title, just need to write the actual show. That’s the easy part though right?

Who are your favourite Funny Women?

Dawn French was the first woman I remember seeing & going “oh we can be funny as well”  I’ve seen & read everything she’s ever done, i absolutely adore her.

What do you love about stand up?

It’s all you. It’s the highest risk & the highest reward. You can’t hide behind anything, so when they laugh, it’s all for you, but that means if they don’t laugh, again, it’s all on you. It’s a constant knife-edge & I love it! Also, providing people with a laugh when the world is the way it is is something I am very passionate about. Everyone needs the world to be a bit brighter right now.
