Funny Women

Wishing you a very happy, healthy and harmonious New Year. We’ve enjoyed a bit of a break over the festive season and now we’re looking forward to an action-packed 2024 with events to entertain you and opportunities to create and develop great comedy.

We have a growing community and welcome partnerships in the UK and other parts of the world. Please get in touch if you have any ideas or want to work with us.

We now have two Funny Women Live in Amsterdam comedy nights a month, run by our regional producer Roxy Jimenez, and Funny Women Live in Paris is back up and running this month under the direction of Anna Beth. We will be in Dublin again with Chatterboxx, date to be confirmed, and we are actively seeking a new regular and accessible venue in London to re-establish our ‘open mic’ community nights (formerly Time of the Month).

If you are thinking about getting your funny on or even entering the Funny Women Awards this year, now is the time to plan ahead and get the support you need. Perfect your performance, start writing that script and access some of the best industry advice with our workshops and courses.

Our next online Comedy Crash Course takes place this month from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th January, with experts on hand to guide you in creating comedy and the opportunity to showcase your work at the end of the week.

We introduced our one-day in person comedy workshop last year and the Stand Up to Stand Out – Summer School was such a success that we’ve brought it back in the form of a Winter Warm Up. Hosted by our friends at the Groucho Club on Saturday 3rd February the day kicks off from 10.00am to 5.00pm, led by our founder Lynne Parker with two fantastic sessions facilitated by Monica Gaga and Vix Leyton. There’s even a light lunch, teas, coffees and cookies thrown in with the deal.

Both of these events are half-price for those who have already joined our Patreon platform at the ‘Amusing’ level of £5.00 plus VAT a month or more.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to Patreon please consider doing so as it raises funds to support our community and in return for your contributions – starting from a mere £1.50 plus VAT a month – we offer discounts, monthly online Patreon Exclusive Open House events, industry advice, exclusive website content and more.  Join Patreon at the ‘Amusing’ level of £5.00 plus VAT a month or more and take part in as many of our courses and workshops as you like for half-price. You will even get a free two-hour Stand Up to Stand Out comedy workshop – new dates to be announced soon.

There’s lots more in store so watch this space for news and if you fancy writing for us, please get in touch with your ideas. We don’t pay our contributors currently but but you get a profile and it’s a great way to build up your writing portfolio.

What are you waiting for?  Happy New Year!
