Starting today until next Sunday (October 6-15), The Women in Comedy Festival kicks off at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival.
The Festival hosts a variety of female comedy acts from across the UK over 10 days, ranging from traditional stand-up shows – from seasoned pros (in previous years, including Susan Calman, Rosin Conaughty, Zoe Lyons and Desiree Burch) as well as fresh newbies – to hosting networking events.
This year, expect shows from Steff Todd, Harriet Dyer, Su Mi, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Helen Bauer, Lindsey Santoro, and Thenjiwe Moseley and many more. You can see the full programme here.
Kiri Pritchard-McLean, who previously performed at the festival and is performing a WIP show this year, said:
‘The Women in Comedy Festival has been instrumental in my journey as a comedian’.
The festival was created by Jessica Toomey (Director of The Frog and Bucket Comedy Club & FAB Management) and Hazel O’Keefe (Founder of Laughing Cows).
To encourage more non white women onto the NW circuit, they have created a comedy scholarship, which includes training, mentorship, workshops, gig introductions and advice and support. To apply, you can contact: info@womenincomedy.uk.
If you’d like to participate in next year’s festival, applications open next January.
You can buy tickets here, and keep up to date on socials via their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
