Lynda Baron, who played Nurse Gladys in Open All Hours among other classic comedy roles in Last of the Summer Wine, The Rag Trade, Up Pompeii!, Dinnerladies, The Upper Hand, and Citizen Khan has died aged 82.
1990s kids might know Baron as Auntie Mabel from Come Outside, always accompanied by her trusty dog Pippin on adventures in a spotty aeroplane.
Donna French, Baron’s agent issued the statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved client Lynda Baron.
“She was a wonderful actress and a great friend. Her iconic roles of Nurse Gladys in Open All Hours and Aunt Mabel in Come Outside were loved by all generations.
