If you’re a fan of comedy, you might have heard of a comedian called Shappi Khorsandi. Shappi has enjoyed a career that has so far included touring shows, performing at Live at the Apollo several times, writing two books and presenting her own BBC Radio 4 series, among other TV and Radio appearances, shows and newspaper columns. You could hardly describe this comedian as obscure.
However, it appears that Britain’s Got Talent thinks they’ve spotted something in Shappi and invited her to audition for the show alongside other hopefuls for the ITV show.
Shappi tweeted: “So, Britain’s Got Talent’s casting team got in touch to ask if I’d like to apply to be a contestant.
“Should I do it? Omg! I could end up doing three Live At The Apollos! Or having 12 sell-out Edinburgh shows! And maybe even touring all over the country for ten years!”
This could be the big time… fellow comedian Jenny Eclair tweeted Shappi “I was once approached by Live At The Apollo to see if I fancied being in the audience when it recorded – oh to have had my face televised.”
Shappi is in good company, one of her Twitter followers pointed out: “This is up there with that music website telling Annie Lennox she had some talent and she could do really well with their help.”
