Reclaim the Frame is Birds’ Eye View (BEV) pilot programme whose mission is to draw ever greater audiences to films made by women and showcase a wider perspective of the world.
BEV is a charity that celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in 2018. They work to spotlight, celebrate and advocate films created by women, and to support women working in film. A project that started as a yearly festival, has turned into an year long campaign to increase the reach of the work they do.
With RECLAIM THE FRAME they will be championing four films, in five cities and six cinemas. And it’s all just the beginning. With the help of influencers who will be the ambassadors for the programme, helping to promote their monthly screenings to new audiences, BEV hopes to be able to boost audiences numbers and show the industry there is interest and commercial validity for films that represent the female gaze. We’re hoping comedies can be a part of the project in the long run.
The first of the events in the programme is on May 4th with the screening of Revenge by Coralie Fargeat at Picturehouse Central in London. Other cities involved are Plymouth, Birmingham, Newcastle and Manchester.
