Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer on Twitter on Thursday. The Veep star has decided to us her medical misfortune as a platform to call for universal healthcare in America.
Julia wrote: “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal healthcare a reality.”
The award-winning actor is known for her fantastic characters in Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine, as well as Veep.
Joe Biden, whose son died from cancer in 2015 tweeted in support: “We Veeps stick together. Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia.”
Lena Dunham tweeted: “I love @OfficialJLD, one of the strongest people I know and cancer is gonna be real sorry it tried any weird moves on her.”
HBO stated that: “We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep.”
