YAS KWEEN

Kady Potter

When we need a lift, a stonking good female (or ‘girl power’) anthem is just what we need. There have been plenty of definitive musical statements by queens of pop over the years.

Single Ladies. Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves. No Scrubs. I Will Survive. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Today, we can add YAS KWEEN by Pure & Weary to that list.

Click the video to be motivated like never before:

This is the Fresh Princess theme tune we’ve been waiting for. Check out the heavy 80s influences, including the ‘old school Batman’ sound-effect-on-screen thing. Most of those clothes are back in fashion now, and I think I own some of them…

A close listen to the lyrics should give you some tips on how to deal with those guys who just will. Not. Go. Away. The pertinent (and practical) advice is dispensed in handy rap form, so you’ll find it easier to remember.

It’s so catchy! I’ve been humming the chorus over and over as I write this for you.

There’s even a shoutout for the men who know what’s up. You don’t have to be intimidated by the kween in your life, just buy her sanitary products without whining about it. Simple.

As always, see more of Pure & Weary on YouTube or follow them on Twitter.
