Nighty Night comedy actress Felicity Montagu and her daughter Olivia Nixon will star in a new BBC Radio 4 sitcom called Guilt Trip. They will play a mother and daughter, Laura and Ros, who are walking the Thames Path for charity and planning to scatter Ros’s ex husband’s ashes.

Felicity and Olivia contributed to the script, which was written by Katherine Jakeways who also features in the comedy alongside Tim Key, Javone Prince and Jeff Rawle.

Jane Berthoud, a former head of BBC Radio Comedy who produced and directed the show commented that: “The father’s death has prompted them to do something a million miles away from what they’d normally do. Ros likes to think that she likes a bit of walking and outside exercise but she doesn’t really.

“And it’s not something Laura would do. It’s difficult for them, a sort of bonding exercise, but they’re sparring in the way that mothers and daughters do.”

Felicity said that Guilt Trip was: “about all the things that go wrong and the people you meet.” She also commented that working with her real life daughter was “very demanding. It’s actually quite hard but exciting, because she was good on ideas. I had to back off every now and then.”

Guilt Trip will air on 27th July at 11.30am on BBC Radio 4.
