It’s been an agonising process (the judging part, that is, not the reading of hilarious scripts- that’s been a hoot) but we are now ready to announce the final shortlist for the Comedy Writing Award this year.
The standard was amazingly high, and the judges were very impressed by the inventiveness and sheer hilarity of the scripts. We are incredibly thankful to the panel who took the time to read the shortlisted scripts- Gavin Smith of The Comedy Unit (Badults, Limmy’s Show), award-winning comedy writer and performer, Sian Harries (Dilemma, Man Down), Caz Moran, writer of Raised By Wolves (with sister Caitlyn Moran), BBC Comedy Producer, Suzy Grant (Newsjack), Sara Schulman of Comedy Blogedy, and ex BBC Comedy and Entertainment Producer, Karen Rosie.
The overall winner will be announced at the Funny Women Awards Final on Wednesday 23rd September, at Kings Place in London.
The talented writers in the running are:
Cinderellas, By Bridget Deane
Do You Wish to Continue? By Christine Entwisle
How to be Normal, by Xara Higgs and Natalie Malla
Yoohoo, by Leanne Davies
Very best of luck to all the fantastic new talent in the running. It’s sure to be a wonderful evening!
