If you are a fan of comedy from the north you might be interested to know that 2014 Funny Women Awards semi-finalist Jane Postlethwaite’s  first ever solo show, Made in Cumbria is now on at the Brighton Fringe. It features several characters who are northern or associated with the north.

Made in Cumbria

Cumbrian comedian and actor Jane explained: “I have been doing acting and stand up comedy for the last couple of years. I decided I wanted to meet in the middle and start writing my own comedy characters. I took the plunge and decided to write my own fringe show as I was slightly fed up with southern comedians trying to be northern to get a cheap laugh.

“I want to be known as a Cumbrian comedian as I am so proud of my roots. I really believe we do have the best sense of humour.”

Made in Cumbria is made up of a selection of dark female characters who will welcome you into their unique world. Meet characters such as Kirsty Bird a falconry expert, Karroll Kavannagh a survival expert who is serious about safety, the first northern female astronaut, a children’s author who is determined to be the next Beatrix Potter (with a twist) and Bri Frommage a creative director and blogger.

Catch Jane Postlethwaite’s show Made in Cumbria at Laughing Horse at The Quadrant on 16th and 28th May at 7pm and 31st May on 5.45pm
