Yesterday (Sunday 8th March) was International Women’s Day – the perfect day for Funny Women to take a stand (literally) at the Women of the World Festival.

We set up in the Royal Festival Hall’s Marketplace, laid out some enticing plates of biscuits, and waited. We didn’t wait very long – the turnout was amazing! Thanks to everyone who stopped by.

Even more thanks to those brave souls who had a go at our Stand Up To Stand Out workshop. Especially the one daring man in the audience who enjoyed a spontaneous round of applause. Congratulations. We do quite like it when men take an interest in what Funny Women does. Obviously we’re doing it for the ladies, but we’d love as much support in that as possible.

And if you’re wondering, yes we did try out some of the other events. Our Kady experienced the ‘Twerkshop’, and is spending today trying not to move her legs! Maybe next year we’ll send someone who actually likes exercise…

We also did a survey of your favourite ‘funny women’ throughout the day, and we’ll be posting the results very soon. It’s always an interesting one. We have at least one ‘my mum’ and a few ‘that one off the telly, but I can’t remember her name’.

Hoping to see many more of you there next year!
