On Tuesday 11th November Underwire Festival returns to present the best women in the film industry at The Yard Theatre. The festival will kick off at 6.30pm in the bar with DJ Philip Ilson providing the music.
This year shorts focus on a range of subjects from women composers, leading ladies, dreams and comedy. It's a great festival for all women interested in film to get involved with. We recommend you catch 'The Treehouse' in the festivals Looking Glass section. It's been nominated for best cinematography and tells the story of a young boy who retreats to his treehouse after a funeral and meets the girl next door who helps him learn to live with his recent loss.
The UnderWire festival was founded by Gabriella Apicella and Gemma Mitchell and launched in 2010. The festival endeavours to recognise the best short work made by women across a range of crafts – from director to cinematographer; screenwriter to editor. We share their belief that a more gender balanced industry will benefit everyone by creating a diversity of perspectives, stories and experiences for audiences.
The festival will run until Saturday 15th November. For more information and listings click here!
