If you like to mix music with comedy in any shape or form, then this is the competition for you! Now in its seventh year, the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards is an annual competition to support, promote, expose and celebrate the best emerging musical comedians in the UK.
Over the years, the MCAs have provided a launch pad to superstar acts such as 2009 finalists Frisky and Mannish, 2010 winners Abandoman and the 2009 winner of Best Newcomer Jay Foreman and created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. Other acts who have headlined the MCAs include David O'Doherty, Bo Burnham, Rubberbandits, Mitch Benn, Pippa Evans, Tom Basden, Isy Suttie, Ginger & Black, Earl Okin, Wilson Dixon, Jo Neary, Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer, Sarah-Louise Young, Adams & Rea and many more.
To enter the competition, simply post a link to your original online musical comedy material on our Facebook page before Saturday 13th December 2014, and fill in and submit an entry form. Be sure to read the competition terms and conditions too!
After the deadline to enter has passed, the top 40 entrants will be selected by a panel of judges and entered into the heats stage. These shows will run between January and March 2015 at the Phoenix in Cavendish Square, London, during which the acts to appear at the Grand Final, one of the highlights in the comedy calendar, will be selected.
The prizes will be £500 for the winner, £300 for the 'audience favourite' plus £200 for the WeGotTickets Best Newcomer. It is possible that the judges favourite and audience favourite are the same act.
