If you have never attended a Funny Women workshop you might be wondering exactly what people get out of it. Those attending our workshop on Saturday 25th October at the King's Arms in Manchester at the Women in Comedy Festival have a chance to find out just where a workshop can take you with our evening workshop graduate show

The women joining us in Manchester have attended our workshops and gone on to become finalists in the Funny Women Awards, appear in Edinburgh shows and rubbed shoulders with the stars at the British Comedy Awards.

Dotty Winters attended our Workshop Weekend and caught the comedy bug: "I went on after the weekend to do a gig, and then another, and then another… Seven months, 70 odd gigs, one hour long one woman show and getting into the prestigious final of the 2013 Funny Women Awards at the Leicester Square Theatre in London just seven months after that first weekend foray into stand-up, and I am more hooked than ever!"

In 2012 Sindhu V attended a workshop and in 2013 she too entered the Funny Women Awards and reached the finals, performing stand up made Sindhu feel "invincible" she told us: "if Funny Women hadn't been so encouraging at the workshop I would have chickened out totally and never gone to the heats."

Another 'graduate' of our workshops is Vicky Peirson who performed stand up in Edinburgh this year, Vicky tells us that winning a place on the workshop "opened up a whole new world of fun, friends and free expression"

Comedian and workshopper Cerys Nelmes also had a life changing experience: "I attended a Funny Women workshop in Jan 2011. I had never written any comedy material before and had no idea how to start! The workshop was fabulous! I walked away with a clear idea that comedy was the right thing for me. 3 years on, I am a full-time stand up comedian, travelling all over the country to perform. Without the Funny Women workshop, I can hand on heart say that I wouldn't be working in the industry that I love!"

Cerys has not only gone on to reach the 2012 Funny Women Awards finals but last year Cerys was our backstage reporter at the British Comedy Awards, you can watch her interview some of our favourite comedians here!
