Here at Funny Women, we love female comedy – but we’re equally as passionate about women being able to access and create within any artistic platform. We’re delighted to see that the So and So Arts Club has joined forces with the Tristan Bates Theatre and the Actors’ Centre to celebrate and promote the talents of women in the creative industries with a brand new Festival. The Women in the Arts Festival will run over three days in Central London, and will showcase over 40 different projects – bringing together female producers, actors, directors, writers, poets, musicians comedians, artists … you get the gist!
We’re particularly looking forward to 'Why Is John Lennon Wearing A Skirt?' (16th Dec, 7.15pm), which was an exciting addition to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer; and 'Funbags Festive Frolics' (16th December, 9.45pm), a festive sketch show featuring Funny Women Awards semi-finalists Gemma Layton, Jo Burke and Jacqui Curran. However, the programme of events covers all kinds of artistic endeavours – so regardless of what you end up seeing, you’re bound to be impressed!
