We love seeing comedy performers here at Funny Women HQ, but as our Comedy Writing Award proves, we’re equally passionate about funny writers too. Are you an aspiring author with a project to finish? Or perhaps you’ve thought about writing for radio or TV but just haven’t known where to start? Does a weekend away with other like-minded scribblers sound like a welcome break? Then we have exciting news for you…

Skribita are a Brighton-based organization set up by Sue Teddern, who’s credits include Birds of a Feather, Sister Frances and Homefront, and Edward Crask, who has organized conferences and events for Age Concern and the Labour Party. They run an ongoing series of workshops and events, and offer writers the chance to develop their craft and receive practical advice. Workshops run throughout the year and cover a huge variety of mediums – so if you’re a budding wordsmith, there’s definitely one for you.

We’re excited to hear that they’ve got two fantastic weekend workshops coming up down in Brighton – Writing for Radio and Writing for Television. Both events take place at Brighton's beautiful Artist's Residence and are a brilliant way to develop your ideas, or get started if you’re lacking inspiration. A Skribita weekend typically gives you the opportunity to get involved in all kinds of workshops and activities, but also features practical advice and a Q&A from a Sunday guest – perfect for anyone looking to give writing a go!

Writing for Radio takes place from March 22nd – 24th.
Writing for Television takes place from April 26th – 28th.
