Although I felt that Ladylike got off to a rather weak start, a bit too clichéd with caricatures that have been seen plenty of times before, the performances got much better as the combination of parodies using popular songs and slick acting made the small room rock with laughter. Interaction with the audience was well done with a mixture of flirtation, menace and much enjoyment.
The characters portrayed were well observed. However the sketch about the mother meeting a future daughter-in-law, although brilliantly acted and well sung, seemed a bit familiar. The 'stalker' sketch was a bit too long for me, and it took me a while to realise that was what it was about but it was original and clever.
Timings in the songs were excellent and the sketch with two harassed mothers of young children would strike a chord with anyone who has been there. But it was the last sketch that stood out for me where two fellow travellers annoy each other to the extent of covering their faces with cosmetics (you have to see it!).
In summary, this is a fantastically fun and energetic show which uses it’s title to full ironic potential and will strike a chord with most women, ladylike or not!
