We've seen a huge amount of comedy talent come out of Scotland over the past decade of the Funny Women Awards. So, naturally we’re extremely excited about our upcoming Scottish heat next Thursday 17thMay to see what hidden gems will emerge, the best of which will make it through to the next exciting stage of the Funny Women Awards 2012.

Our Scottish heat takes place in the heart of Edinburgh at The City Cafe and will be hosted by the brilliant Glasgow born, Keara Murphy, with whom we've had the good fortune to work with over the years. Keara has been described as having an 'Electric stage presence' and 'a genuine delight' to watch (Three Weeks). We're delighted that she will be in the driving seat for this heat.

Ask most successful stand-ups what they site as being the springboard to their career and the majority will say the Edinburgh Fringe. This world famous arts festival has always provided a fantastic platform for comedians to test out their material before unleashing it on the world and, in similar fashion, we have seen a number of brilliantly talented Funny Women Awards entrants with Celtic origins.

One such gifted comic from the land of bagpipes and haggis is Susan Calman, who made it to the Final of the Funny Women Awards in 2006. Since then Susan has gone on to become more than worthy of the title ‘as seen on TV’ having appeared on programmes such as BBC’s Have I Got News For You, Rab C Nesbitt and is now a Radio 4 panel show regular.

For a mere fiver you could be enjoying the very best upcoming female comedy talent on the circuit and witnessing the next Susan Calman!  So what are you waiting for? Tickets are available HERE.
