Neuroses, existential angst, and Facebook are central themes in Mae Martin’s solo show, ‘I’m Not Waving, I’m Drowning’. An engaging and instantly likeable stage presence, Mae relates the reason she’s moved to the UK from Canada (better Facebook statuses), why Dr. Brian Cox gives her panic attacks, and her confused love for actor Don Cheadle. A Musical Comedy Awards finalist this year, Mae’s well-drawn anecdotes are a lead in to the main event – memorable, funny songs.
Her venue is a little hard to find, but hopefully crowds manage to find her, because she is definitely worth seeking out. We’ll help – here’s how you get there: follow Princes Street towards the West End, right as it becomes Shandwick Avenue is the Rat Pack Piano Bar, a cosy venue that is sure to fill up fast.
