It’s just flown by

For a year now, I’ve been planning my next trip to Japan. The time has come! I finally leave this week. On Friday the 13th. Mum’s not happy. It was cheaper than the Thursday or Saturday, for reasons obvious to everyone else on the planet, so it’ll have to do. I have spent AGES working […]

Upstart Crow: star-studded, silly Shakespeare

Some of our best and most damaging insults come from Shakespeare. “Thou art like a toad; ugly and venomous.” “There’s no more faith in thee than a stewed prune.” “Your brain is as dry as the remainder biscuit after voyage.” Brutal. It’s been hinted that Ben Elton’s new show about the Bard, Upstart Crow, makes […]

Reagan: a comedy taboo?

Politics is always good for a laugh. How do you think we got to 50 series of Have I Got News For You? My own political leaning is away from them all, with a look of disgust and apprehension on my face. Taking the piss out of politics is an easy way to get giggles. […]

She took the chance to call for more women and more diversity in TV – especially behind the camera. As the Evening Standard reported: “I […]
