BBC Funny Parts new show, 'Am I the Drama'

BBC Studios digital comedy channel, Funny Parts, has commissioned a new series, Am I the Drama available to watch now online.

BBC Studios’ digital comedy channel, Funny Parts, has launched a brand new six-part digital series, Am I the Drama? which can be watched on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, with new sketches being posted every following Wednesday and Friday.

The series, from Gobby Girl Productions is a compilation of two-minute, bizarre comedic sketches that cover the relatable aspects of everyday life, from the struggles of toes in heels to the dreaded politics of a Sunday roast.

All of the sketches star Andrea Valls, who rose to viral fame after she posted a hilarious video of her cosplaying oat milk as ‘the other woman’. The series was co-produced by award-winning producer, Gina Lyons of Gobby Girl Productions, who produced the pilot for the BBC’s In My Skin, which won a BAFTA Cymru award, and the pilot for Dreaming Whilst Black which was nominated for an International Emmy.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working on Am I the Drama with BBC Studios, we’ve created some hilariously funny content with the brilliant Andrea Valls! It’s important to showcase funny women, especially when recent reports from Televisual show that female writers are particularly under-represented (30.2%) in comedy programmes, so we thank BBC Studios for knowing that women can be and are often, hilarious!”

Comedy and TV Film Producer Gina Lyons

Gobby Girl Productions seeks to uplift working-class people in the creative industries, which aligns with the BBC Studios Funny Parts ethos that aims to showcase new up-and-coming comedians on their platforms. Funny Parts specialises in short form digital content and continuously searches to find online artists to collaborate with.

“It’s been amazing to work with a female producer in the comedy space. So many of the people I look up to in this genre are women – it goes to show how strong the female voice is and how we must keep working together to produce great British comedy”.

Comedian, Andrea Valls

“We’re thrilled to have been able to bring Andrea Valls to Funny Parts. She’s a talent we’ve greatly admired for a long time, and her incredible character-comedy and skill at merging relatable themes with a surrealist edge has come together brilliantly (and hilariously!). Working with the creativity and vision of Gobby Girl Productions to bring ‘Am I the Drama?’ to life has been hugely rewarding, and we can’t wait for our audiences to see the full suite of sketches across the Funny Parts channels.”
