Supporting you at the Fringe

Funny Women

We’re just as excited about the upcoming Edinburgh Festival Fringe as you are and we will be supporting female comedy at the Fringe where we can editorially despite our very limited resources. We can only do this with your help so here are some simple guidelines so that we can collaborate on producing some meaningful coverage.

We can’t publish everything sent to us and we’re already overwhelmed! We’re more likely to publish if you make it easy for us by sending clearly labelled copy and images.

For example, if you are a PR consultant representing several acts at the festival, please don’t send us multiple submissions in one email and then expect us to instantly publish them!

We will prioritise acts we’ve not ‘interviewed’ before about Edinburgh and we won’t ‘cut and paste’ press releases. We will only publish content that suits our editorial style and this is where you come in.

We have two options for coverage currently in the run up to the Fringe:

Q&A

If you would like to be featured as a Q&A please request a template by emailing info@funnywomen.com and putting ‘Your name/show and Fringe Template Request’ in the header. Check out some of the others on the website here. Send copy as a word document and put the name of your show and ‘Fringe Editorial for consideration’ in the header.

FEATURE OR COMMENT PIECE

Alternatively, if you or your client wants to write a feature or comment piece for the website about your experiences that also promotes your show, we welcome submissions of between 350 and 500 words. In addition to an image to illustrate your article, (see details below) this option will also require an author’s headshot and short 50-word biography to create a contributor profile. Again, please send copy as a word document to info@funnywomen.com and put the name of your show and ‘Fringe Editorial for consideration’ in the header.

IMAGES

Both options should be accompanied by a banner-style ‘header’ image (landscape 2160 x 1080px) to illustrate the article. As this is editorial we prefer images without lots of copy and information, i.e. not your flyer.

Please don’t send us links to photo libraries as we don’t have the resources to go through lots of pictures. Attach your chosen image, correctly sized, along with the copy supplied.

HELP US

If we publish your article, please note that it will be exclusive to our Funny Women Patreon members, and we kindly ask you to include a link to Patreon on your own socials and any website links featuring our coverage. All funds generated from subscriptions contribute towards Funny Women’s vital work as a non-profit community supporting the next generation of funny women and running the annual Awards.

PAID FOR PROMOTION

If you have deeper pockets please note that we offer other promotional opportunities on a ‘paid for’ basis on our website, social platforms and newsletters (27k circulation) and you can visit our rate card here.
